Lovestagram is my gift to @mikeyk for Valentine's Day

On October 1st, 2010, my boyfriend Mike Krieger and I moved into our first apartment together. On October 6th, he launched Instagram with his co-founder Kevin Systrom. Mike came home at 6AM the next morning, exhilarated and exhausted. I snapped what's still one of my favorite photos of him:

Over the past two and a half years, Instagram has attracted over 100 million users and billions of beautiful photos. It hasn't been a cake-walk for Mike, who's still on call in case Justin Bieber posts a shirtless photo. Yet despite the long hours, the unpredictable server crises, and all the media attention, Mike has always found time to make me feel special.

To return the favor, I built Lovestagram last Valentine's Day. I started from scratch, wrestling with Python, Django, HTML/CSS, jQuery, and Photoshop (whew!). With lots of help from some amazing friends, Lovestagram launched on February 9th, 2012. Over the course of the next few days, Instagram users created over 12,000 valentines for their friends and lovers.

This year, Lovestagram is back with some new features that lots of folks requested: the ability to schedule your valentine for delivery on the 14th, and an easier way to share your valentine on Instagram from your iPhone or Android.

Version 2 also features four new valentine designs from some awesome designer friends. Many many thanks to Nikki Will for "XOXO" and "Tic Tac Toe," to Jeremy Caballero for "Love You", and to Alexandre Macedo for "Manhattan." You guys inspire me.

Love,
Kaitlyn
